Celebrating Puanga at Ramanui

WALT find out what students at one school do to celebrate the Māori New Year. WALT to use the main ideas to summarise the text.

I really enjoyed learning about Puanga and that they did a time capsule. The thing that surprised me was that Puanga isn't actually part of the Matariki cluster. The thing that I found really interesting is what Ramanui school did to celebrate Māori new year.

The thing that was tricky for me was making the google drawings and put in writing. I think I could add more writing, info and maybe just a little bit more detail. 

Moment in Time

WALT use descriptive vocabulary to describe a moment in time.

The thing that I did well is type out the writing on my Chromebook. The bit that was tricky for me is put descriptive language in my writing. The way that I extend myself next time is make sure that I have everything that I need to make my writing just that little bit better.

The Plastic Free Challenge

WALT find out some of the causes, effects, and solutions for plastic pollution. 

The thing that I found interesting is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch that has lots of rubbish mostly thrown out from humans. Also how much plastic that the students of Room 5 at Motueka South School found only through a little walk. I think that I can use beeswax wrap instead of glad wrap and other plastic that you might use at school. At home every time I go on a walk I will always pick up rubbish and pick up plastic when I play in my backyard. 

The thing that I did well is read the book in a group and use the book to find information for my slide. The thing that I found tricky is making the slide and find out what I can do to add a bit more into my slide. The way that I can extend myself next time is by using a bit more detail and making sure that my slide is completely finished at the right time. 

Math Strategy - Rounding and Compensating

WALT solve addition equations using the rounding and compensating strategy. 

The thing that I did well is solving the small equations. The thing that was hard for me is doing the rounding and compensating with the really big numbers.  The thing that I think that I could of done is challenge my-self bye using really big numbers. 
My favourite way to solve equations is using place value strategy.

My Bubble Memories

We are sharing memories from our lock down bubble. 

Me and my class have been making a slide about what we have done in our bubble. I have been working on this slide about my bubble memories with my mum at home and I do it at school. I have had to write it into my writing book, put on a document, make a slide and then put it on my blog. 

The thing that I did well is make my slide. The thing that I found tricky is finding pictures of my family to put on my slide. 
The thing that I could  do next time is put a little bit more detail in my writing.
