My Speech

WALT present a persuasive speech.

My speech reflection is sharing it with everyone and even coming first with one of my best friends named Mihi.

What did you do well?
The thing that I did well is use expression in my voice and in the movements I did when I said my speech to my class and my schools principle. The other thing I did well is be loud, quite a lot of people know that I am quiet and not so good at plays and anything that includes speaking in front of a big audience or even just the biggest class in Paparore school.

What do you need to work on for next time?
I need to work on not being really nervous just before I say my speech to an audience. I do not think I am really good at keeping eye contact but sir said I was pretty good at that.

What was your overall feeling about your speech experience?
When my teacher said to the class that we were doing speeches I kept saying to myself that I will not be in the top 3. When sir needed to judge in the end I came first in the speech contest.

My Speech Kia ora, I think everyone 16 and older should be able to vote. Do you think your opinion and other peoples opinion is important? Well, I sure do. I think the voting age should be lowered down to 16 years old because teenagers have other hard things in life. Teenagers can have a chance to do better things for their family and for themselves. For example if you were a 16 year old then you would want to vote but maybe not want to go through trying to get a learners licence for driving a car and then getting your drivers licence. If you have a think about you might realise that teenagers are allowed to get a drivers license but not allowed to vote. They are allowed a house and a family but not allowed to vote. Teenagers are allowed to find any sort of job but not allowed to vote. For example if you were a teenager and your parents didn’t let you have a job you could just be able to vote instead of working hard at a boring office or at home. Why were girls not allowed to vote? And why do people only 18 and older be allowed to vote? Do you all think that is fair? I definitely think that is NOT fair because it does not matter if you are a man a lady a teenager or an adult you deserve to be able to vote and make your own choices at 16 years old. That is why I think the voting age should be lowered down to 16. I hope you all agree with my point of view about why the voting age should be lowered to 16 years old.

Keep New Zealand Beautiful

On the 22.09.2020  Te Kauru, Te Puawai, Te Manga had a hikoi to Lake Ngatu to plant with the help of Department Of Conservation and did a clean up on the track.

All of Te Kauru, Te Puawai, Te Manga got to plant atleast one plant. There were only these native trees Kanuka and Manuka.

We all learnt to use caring for our environment by cleaning our lake and looking after it.

What I really enjoyed learning about planting is that  all of us can learn how to use partnership by helping each-other plant.

Here is an example of what I mean, I could not take a Manuka out of the pot and Kaydee taught me how to do that.

Unwanted Visitors

WALT use different strategies to understand what we are reading.

SJ Level 3 May 2019

- Unwanted Visitors

Activity 1

Use the article to answer the following questions:

1.  What could tramping boots, dairy products and even honey contain? They can hide species that might harm the environment.

2. Unwanted pests, weeds and diseases endanger New Zealand’s plants and animals. Find evidence to support this view. Pests are animals that cause some kind of harm. Weeds are plants that are grown in places where they are not allowed to grow. Bacteria are caused by diseases, viruses and fungi.

Read, Read, Read Monsters

WALT use our reading strategies to find information in the text and explain it to others.

On your blog write a reading response to one of the text you read.

WOW that's amazing!
Yuck, gross!
I don't believe it!

Afinemata/Gahehelevao
I can't believe that there are lots of tales and some of them come true. My favourite tale that is on the book called monsters is the Afinemata/Gahehelevao.

That is my favourite one because it reminds me about the B.F.G and it is probably bigger and taller than a mountain!!
