I am a Year 5 student at Paparore School School in Northland, New Zealand. Mrs Junjovich is my teacher. My blog is a collection of my work at various stages, across different curriculum areas. Throughout my time at Paparore School I may share draft copies of my work for feedback and feed forward. Other times I will share my final published pieces. I would appreciate any feedback through leaving me a positive, thoughtful, helpful comment. Thank you

Mathematicians - Math Strategies
WALT use different math strategies to solve addition equations.
These are one of my math strategies. Rounding and Compensating is a really great strategy because all it is, is rounding up a number and then adding the answer to both of them.
I learnt how to do this strategy by using the class site. I practised all of the equations until I got it sussed. I used my maths book and my slide on my drive to practise the equations. I will tell my friends to look at my video.

Film Festival Maniakalani
On the seventh of the eleventh 2019 Te Manga, 8 students from Te Kauru and some other people from other schools came for an adventure to the cinemas to watch a-few films (including Te Manga's film). When I walked up the red carpet I felt like I was part of a celebrity. The first person I saw was Harley because Harley was taking pictures and videos by the red carpet. When I went into the cinemas I felt really excited to see my own face on the big screen. When I saw my own face on the big screen I felt like I was the Master Movie Maker. My favourite two film's was Making Friend's and The Trespasser.

First Draft Duffy Theatre Show
Then Duffy magically soaked into the Magic Bricks game that Sam was playing in the lounge. When Auntie Grace came to the lounge to ask where Duffy went. Sam did not want to say that Duffy disappeared into the game, but Sam did tell her mum. They didn't know how to get out of the game. So Auntie Grace got Nana Whetu's Magic Bricks book to know how to get out.
Sam read the book and thought that she found Nana Whetu's recipe for dumplings but it was actually the dumpling dance but. They did not know that it was the dumpling dance. Sam put on Nana Whetu glasses on and tried to do be like Duffy so Sam could help Duffy to get out of the game. Sam read the book and thought that she found Nana Whetu's recipe for dumplings.
Then Auntie Grace put on Nana Whetu's glasses but she did not get sucked into the game. Then Sam said that the recipe must of been the dance that Duffy did when he was wearing Nana Whetu's glasses. Duffy and Sam heard a weird voice that gave him clues. The clues were to help Duffy and Sam make words. The first word was inventor and then Whetu.

What’s The Difference Between Snow And Hail?
If you stand outside in snow or hail you can
feel the big difference. Snow is very soft, fluffy
and light, and snowflakes will not hurt if it falls on
you when it’s snowing. Hail is very hard, and it
will sting a little bit if it hits bare skin anywhere there is hail.

NZ Playhouse, Hare And The Tortoise
Today the whole school were in the whare to watch an entertaining performance called The Hare And The Tortoise. When we got there one of the girls hooked the string on the pole and accidentally made it come off again. There was three people acting in the show, but the characters were the Tortoise, Piped piper, Humpty Dumpty, Hare - Hea and The ginger bread man/G man/Biscuit Boy. My favourite part was when the tortoise finished the race at the end, I also liked the part when the tortoise sung this song, slow and steady wins the race. The G man was sad at the end because the Piped piper said if the G man gave him one of the gumdrop buttons or ten thousand moon dollars . The G man said 'oh no, I don't have enough moon dollars and I don't want to give away my gumdrops!!' They talked to each other for a little bit. Finally the G man said ' Okay okay, I will give you one of my gumdrops until I have ten thousand moon dollars.'

The Great Reading Adventure
Last Friday Te Manga and Te Tinana did a great performance to lots of audience laughing, clapping and getting entertained. I felt like jelly wobbling on a plate. That’s how nervous I was. I was a narrator and I had to wear a Maori costume . First Duffy, Scruffy, Thing one and friend three. Next it was The Cat In The Hat’s turn, after that it was my turn. I felt like I had to explode when I was walking to the front. There was other groups like the Harry Potters, Cat in the Hat, Non-Fiction, Comics and Legends. I was in Maui and the sun Legends group. My part was to say is this, When the flax ropes were ready Maui and his brothers set off. They went on and on looking for the hole where the sun came up. They walked in darkness. When it was light, they hid so the sun wouldn’t see them. At last they came to the hole. They put the ropes across it and hid again, I also said Maui and his brothers held tight to the ropes as the sun battled to get away and now Maui and his people had plenty of time to fish, hunt and eat their food all in the light of the sun wouldn’t see them. They put the ropes across it and hid again, I also said Maui and his brothers held tight to the ropes as the sun battled to get away and now Maui and his people had plenty of time to fish, hunt and eat their food all in the light of the light of the sun. Whaea Deb put the Duffy Kid song on her laptop and we all sang the Duffy song. Then Duffy said Sir can you please hand out the certificates. The End

Making Puddles - Our Water Cycle Experiment
WALT explain what happens when water evaporates.Create a new blog post to explain our EVAPORATION science experiment.
What was our hypothesis?
Describe what we did?
Both puddles evaporated but the puddle that was in the sun evaporated faster than the one in the shade. Think about which puddles disappeared faster?the puddle that was in the sun evaporated faster than the one in the shade.
What caused the water to disappear?Water in the sun will always disappear faster than the puddle in the shade.
What was our hypothesis?
Describe what we did?
- Alani tipped 2L of water on the concrete to make a puddle in the sun.
- Liv, Cleo, and Reina drew around the puddle with chalk and Anahera took a picture.
- we waited for 15 minutes to check the puddle to see how much water had evaporated.

Waitangi Learning - Rarangi Matahiko
On May the 21st of 2019 it was the day Te Manga could go to Waitangi. Soon we arrived at Waitangi. when we arrived at Waitangi Whaea Monika and Whaea Kerry greeted us.
They told us to go up long stairs to get ready to learn. I saw some amazing paintings from Antarctica and the beautiful technology laid out. I felt really pumped and superb when I walked into the building.
Te Manga did some Unplugged Activities. Our Unplugged Activity was sorting out number cards from one to fifty. Me, Lara and Reina was my buddies for the Unplugged Activity.
After that a nice person came in called Caitlin. Caitlin came in with six very special rocks. The rocks are important, soft, spiky and some smooth even a bit rough.
We did Scratch and paint 3D to make some eels.My eel looked like a wobbly line line to me. I put my background on Scratch and me! Each of us made and decorated our own eel on Scratch and paint 3D.
At the end Te Manga played Tag, Hare-In-The-Whare, Chain Tag and had a little walk on a track. All of us saw some eels at the cafe and the ginormous stump made out of Kauri-gum tree. Before we hopped on the bus we did was all of us doing a scary pukana!
